Good News! The Open Therapy Institute (OTI), an independent organisation that shares CTA’s values has just launched an important new quarterly journal. Frontiers in Mental Health has a mission to lay out the scope of what needs to be attended to in therapy. This is of vital importance as socio-political bias has created underserved clinical populations, distorted the ethos of therapy and damaged our professions in the public view.
Two years ago, CTA published the first anthology of essays critiquing the uncontested adoption of Critical Social Justice in the professional therapy field. Now, OTI has taken on the mantle of developing these early critiques into the beginnings of a wider more substantive field of inquiry. It looks beyond the current schism, between traditional/classical therapy and the recent politicised turn, to a future where the therapy disciplines can, once more, deliver effective services to individuals who are struggling to navigate very uncertain rapidly changing times.
